Help smog my car??? Code 32

I have a code 32 on my 1991 Chevy Camaro 5.7 TPI. I replaced the egr valve and air intake temp sensor as well as tested the solenoid to make sure its working right. I was checking vacuum to the solenoid and there is non so i pulled the line off the bottom of the throttle body and it seem that port is in front of the throttle plates which has no vacuum.

Is this where the line should go?
Should it be on the black or the silver vacuum port on the solenoid?
Is the egr open with no vacuum?
Anything i should check?

The egr works off a ported vacuum signal. it sounds like the solenoid is bad. Iirc it should ohm at 28 ohms.

Hey tuned im sure your annoyed with my questions. When sending power to the solenoid it closes through one port and the other port is open like the new one i bought. Should it not be like that?

Re: Help smog my car??? Code 32

The operation to vent is correct the passage is normally open. The solenoid is pwm during operation and may have failed during decel or cruise.
Last year I helped a member! he replaced the egr and solenoid and ecm? He was still getting the code 32 so I disabled it with reprograming.
Is your nox high ?

So even if it ohms and opperates correctly when bench testing it it might still be bad? If thats the case thats fine ill replace it but if it doesnt need to be id rather not hack up the harness to put the connector on for the new solenoid. Also i have not had a test run because the light is on and that is an aromatic fail.

look at the passengers side runner and plenum for extreme build up in the small tube in the runner and the ports behind the throttle body in the plenum. You dont need to clean it so its down to aluminum just remove the large pieces and make sure the passages are clear.

Re: Help smog my car??? Code 32

Should air be able to pass through the egr exhaust port on the intake that the egr bolts to? I tried blowing air into the round hole where the egr bolts to to see if it would blow out through the exhaust but air will not go through is that normal or is it blocked/plugged?

Re: Help smog my car??? Code 32

The round hole goes into the pass cylinder head into the heat crossover. Yes if you blow compressed air into the passage it will go into the exhaust .

Bump the engine over and try it again. I can't remember what exhaust valve the air goes into but if its closed air won't pass..
