My car starts up fine on a cold start but on a hot start it's a different story. When I try to start the car it stays on for like 3 seconds and idles real low and dies. It continues to do this for after about 5 try's until it finally starts. I've also had a problem with my car randomly dieing at red lights/stop signs for no apparent reason. If you guys could help me with some ideas I would be appreciated thanks...

 

sounds like fuel pump. similar thing happened to mine, 305 tbi

 

start with fuel filter

 

Yea I'm thinking it's a fuel pump too and I just changed my fuel filter yesterday so that's not it

 

then have fuel pressure tested.

 

its in the tank. gotta drop exhaust and the rearend. its fun. if it the fuel pump look into a carder pump, don't cheap out and change the o-ring. I've learned from experience

 

had to drop mind again to replace the o-ring. it took about $500 by the time I found out it was the fuel pump

 

Yea I heard its fun....... And yea I'm not trying to go cheap or cut corners

 

father in law owned a parts store and a buddy works at the parts counter at the chevy dealer and they said carter pumps were the best
