I did my first valve job and replaced the cylinder head gaskets and now I'm re-assembling the engine back together.

Is there something that I should know about installing rocker arms + pushrods? I was about to simply bolt the rocker arms back in place but then I remember something about rotating the engine until the 1st cylinder is in its TDD or something like that.
My setup is a stock '86 305 TPI machine.
The engine has been rotated a few times but the camshaft and timing chain are untouched.

 

When the lifter is on the base circle of the cam, you tighten the rocker down to zero lash. You then tighten the rocker an additional 1-4 to 1/2 turn. That sets a preload inside the hydraulic lifter.

 

Maybe it was Alky who previously mentioned making the nut tighter again if it feels loose by tapping it some with a hammer (off the stud of course!) to close up the top end a bit. Was a saver for me. Don't hit it too hard though - too tight and it's won't back off the stud and you've created another problem...
