idle problems

hi, before anyone says it, i have searched but couldnt find anything useful! i have a 92 camaro rs with the 305/manual and when it sits at idle it seems to misfire and it moves the whole car.. it will rev up and down a little but mostly just misses. i already tried the whole "spray carb cleaner around the engine" trick and found nothing. anyone have any idea of what it could be? could it be bad motor mounts just letting the engine shake the car? it drives perfectly fine once its over 1000 rpms... doesnt burn a drop of oil or coolant either so i dont think anything major could be wrong with the engine

im new to the muscle car world so i dont know much about them, ive always owned imports until now i know hondas have an idle air control valve that gets dirty and makes the car not idle right maybe something like that?

thanks for any help!

Re: idle problems

Have you checked the plugs and made sure one wasn't fouled?

There would but you may not notice it once you start moving, it's way more exaggerated at idle.

The carb spray trick was a good idea, I'd go over the whole vacuum system again though after you check the plugs. Just to for sure eliminate that possibility.

Also, it would help if you could go and fill out the rest of your profile so your engine/trans/etc show up under your name.

Re: idle problems

spark plugs look older but the important part looks fine. ill probably change them anyway soon but for now im assuming thats not the issue. any other things that could cause it other than a vacuum leak?

Re: idle problems

Well, if the plugs look fine then you could have something wrong with the plug wires themselves.

But I'd chase down the vacuum leak first to see if it exists.

Re: idle problems

ill have to try some things out and see if i can find a leak, maybe the stuff i was spraying wasnt effective enough to find a leak?
