I just found this today. It was tucked in around the smog equpt just laying there. The PO has disconnected it and plugged it with a screw! But where does it go? I held it up so you could see where it comes from. As you can also see, the other line coming out of that harness goes into the plenum. I wondered if it had any connection to my mysterious code 32. I doubt it, but I'd still like to know where it goes. My first thought was that it went to the stock breather that has been removed, but I don't see anything on the breather that looks like a vacuum nozzle. Plus, I don't think it's long enough to reach up there. Good news is, whatever it is it's holding vacuum because it hissed a little when I took the screw out. Any clues?
heater water bypass valve, in the general area above # 4 spark plug
Ok. Good. Any clues why the PO might have disconnected it? And would that have any connection to why it takes my heater so long to warm up and why it never gets really hot? I've already changed the therm. It was an Arizona car, they might not have needed the heater much. Not sure....Thx.
I think I might know why.....when I got the car I replaced the heater core. Could it be they knew the old core was bad and disconnected that line to bypass it?
Those are all good questions, can't tell from here, but I would start by putting it where it belongs and start trouble shooting from there.
Ok. Thx. I just went out and did a quick search and couldn't find it, but I'm sure it's there somewhere. I'll find it.
It's quite obvious, it's about the size of your fist and sits up high. The PO probably chucked it.

Ok. That helps, I found it--I was looking too far down. The nozzle on the line is stretched out by the screw and doesn't fit anymore, I'll have to replace it, but no biggie. Thanks for your help!Originally Posted by scoflaw
