Re: header gasket keeps blowing out

header bolts have a nasty habit of loosening.there are locking bolt kits, and copper gaskets that solve the problem. but first id take them off and lay a straight edge across the mounting flanges .if they aren't perfectly flat, you can have a machine shop mill them till they are. that should do it for you

1" long bolts, anti-seize on threads and a fel-pro 1405 gasket.

Re: header gasket keeps blowing out

are they flat? header flangers are often to thin, with heat n time they don't clamp/seal well.

^^THIS^^
There is no gasket that will reliably seal cheap thin warp-prone header flanges. Ultra Copper RTV is your friend there.
However, if you have quality thick header flanges, then the most durable seal I've found is the embossed steel shim gaskets like GM uses for stock manifolds. You can use those and just add the hole(s) necessary for your header bolt arrangement.
