Hello everyone. I have a 87 gta trans am and the car starts up fine and after a few seconds it stalls out. It's not the vats system because it doesn't have one. The car was running perfect before I took out the upper intake manifold. Could it be a vacuum leak. If I keep my foot on the gas petal it will run but after 9 secs off the gas it would die out and stall. Please help.

 

do you have a TPI car? why did you remove the plenum in the first place? and yes you could have a vaccum leak.go back over all you have done and check

 

Yes tpi got it to start but it's idling at 3000 rmp now.

 

is your check engine light on while its running? if so check your codes.with the engine off remove the air duct and check if the throttle blades are dirty or being blocked open somehow.your kickdown cable could be kinked/misrouted holding the throttle open. your IAC solenoid could be faulty.your hose leading to the brake booster could be leaking air. re check everything you have done.and you may find your problem.let us know
