How to adjust idle?

Car: 87 GTA Trans Am
Engine: 5.7 350 TPI
Transmission: TCI transmission
Axle/Gears: 4th gen rear end. With 3.83
How to adjust idle?

I got my gta 87 trans am to start and it ie really high now. It idles around 3000rpm. Is there anyway I can drop the idle with out making the engine stall?help ASAP !!!

what do you have? carb or FI? please complete your page so we know what you have . till then ,we cant really help you.

is your check engine light on while it was running? if so ,read the codes.that will point you in the right direction as far as what is wrong.dont worry about posting ,we all had to start from somewhere

Well, the first obvious thing to do would be to check the idle set screw, make sure it is set correctly and not stuck/gummed up with dirt.

your throttle body may need a good cleaning. usually the passages leading to the IAC solenoid get caked with carbon deposits. and that alone plays havoc with idle speed. take the air duct off and look at the throttle blades ,if they are black .it may be your problem
