Sending Unit Removal...

The two tabs sticking up are part of a lock ring that holds it in. Take a hammer and a flat screwdriver and peck them around counterclockwise. You will have to alternate from one tab to the other because it will drive the ring to one side when you work it around and bind it.

That's what I thought but it wont budge...any hints/tricks?

Looks like it's cut out from the tank? Use some penetrating oil on it. Clamp the sheet metal in a vise so you have it stabilized and can put some torque to it. If that fails drill out a few of the spots holding the outer ring to the "tank" and pry that ring away from the lock ring. You don't want to beat up the sender.

i had it were it was binding did u press the tabs down also you can pop one side out and then pull it off from there if that fails get some tin snips and cut it

no.spray it with PB blaster. tap it lightly. alternate like he said DONT booger up the lock ring.
