cross brace in front of radiator needed?

Hey guys,

I have these two cross braces that cross in front of the radiator. They are just two light bars that bolt on each side of the front of the radiator and make a "x". Do I Need them or not? Can't properly mount my aux trans cooler with them there. Thanks for any help!

considering the flexable nature of our cars. they need all the help they can get , so yes they are needed. and yes there is no problem mounting a trans cooler to them

They're just preventing me from mounting the trans cooler to the radiator, they're in the way. I'm going to have to see if I can use some zip-ties and mount it to them instead I guess.

Is your cooler to thick to fit behind them?
If not, take them loose, mount cooler, put them back on...took a look at my car, appears to about 1.5 inches of space.

Not I, I had just looked at mine, and there appears to be 1.5 inches of space between the bars and condenser.

Yes, the cooler is too wide/long/thick to fit around or under the bracing.

Re: cross brace in front of radiator needed?

Doe's my 88 GTA supposed to have these cross braces ?

I see Classic has them listed, but I see no holes to mount them on mine.

I don't know?

There are just four bolts, 10mm, one for each end. Top and bottom on each side of the radiator about where you see them terminate there.
