Turn signal switch adjustment and lever removal

Hello,

Does anyone know how to adjust turn signal switch and also how to remove the lever? Switch is out of place and I get no click when I pull it back to dimm headlights so adjustment is needed and the lever is in bad condition as well so I'd like to replace it at the same time.

Plastic cover around the switch is in one piece and to remove it I'd need to remove steering wheel first which... So... With that plastic cover on, can I remove the lever and adjust the switch? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

There's no adjustment.

Gotta pop the steering wheel off. Most likely you'll need to replace the turn signal switch.

Be REAL careful with the parts related to the horn; most of the time, you can tell a car that somebody has had the wheel off, because those parts are tore up. The plastic piece that the yellow wire comes through, locks in there like a light bulb. Push it in, turn it a quarter turn, it'll come out. If you just yank it out, the horn won't work again until you replace it.

Re: Turn signal switch adjustment and lever removal

The lever and turn signal switch are separate parts which you'll have to purchase separately. Again, the turn signal switch has no adjustment.

The dimmer switch is attached to the steering column down towards the firewall. There's a rod that travels from the lever down the column to the dimmer switch. There's some adjustment at the switch; loosen the mounting screws and you can move the switch up or down the column.

Re: Turn signal switch adjustment and lever removal

I see, thanks! The adjustment of dimmer switch is exactly what I need. I tought dimmer switch and turn signal switch are one and the same but now I know better. And where are those two mounting screws? I think I have a cover plastic missing becouse I can see wires comming from the turn signal lever to the connector under the column height adjusting lever and no screws are seen there. But the whole pice is very loose. If I hold it tight against the column and move the turn signal lever towards me I can hear click and the lights go from low to high beams. But if I don't hold the plastic then that plastic moves freely and there's no click... So I somehow need to fixate that piece of plastic to which (I assume) the dimmer switch is attached to.

Re: Turn signal switch adjustment and lever removal

The dimmer sw IS adjustable. It's right above the brake pedal, on top of the column.

Sounds like that's not what's wrong though; the problem with working that, is that the lever is loose on the turn signal switch. Most often that's because the TS sw is wore out.

Gotta pop the wheel off to fix it.

Re: Turn signal switch adjustment and lever removal

if your tilt mechanism is loose it will affect proper actuation of the dimmer switch. if this is the case, tighten the tilt screws in the column and all will be well.

So, I found the dimmer switch and push rod. Now I'm trying to find mounting screws on that switch so I can push it up (towards the push rod) a bit but I can't find any screws down there... Any further help on how to adjust the switch would be greatly appreciated.
