new valve covers, Ac compressor wont fit
Hey guys, I just put new valve covers on my 305 tpi v-belt and they're taller than stock so when I went to put the ac compressor back on the higher valve cover was preventing the compressor from sliding in to let me put the belt on. I'm tempted to just delete my ac since it doesn't hold a charge but since its a stock motor I kind of want to keep it and eventually fix it. I moved to Florida where heat is brutal but am eventually moving back to Connecticut where heat isn't too much of an issue. all the other posts about this issue got no responses so hopefully someone who ran into this problem can help me out. thanks

Bummer...you're going to have to look for shorter covers, or mod the ones you have (not easy) or look at modding the AC bracket, and finding a longer belt.
You know, factory steel covers worked well for a long time when installed correctly, I know you had leaking issues...but...
Okay, how tall are your current covers (top of the lip, to top of the VC) and how much room more do you need?
I may have something here I'll send you for shipping cost that might work...pretty sure I have one or two set of older cast covers that were about (but a tad taller) the same as factory style...also, I need to know your bolt pattern, square or staggered.
Don't recall what I have, but know I'll most likely never need them again

Re: new valve covers, Ac compressor wont fit
Alright so I took off the lines going to the back of the compressor, luckily my system had barely any freon so I just got a small puff in the face of it, I put a new belt on and was able to tighten the compressor but The valve covers are still in the way of connecting the lines back to the compressor, a larger belt will most definitely solve this issue. Time to start looking
