Ac o-ring kit, where do they all go?
hey guys, I'm in the process of repairing my ac, I'm gonna stick with r-12 due to money constraints. I bought the o ring kit and I'm about to buy a new accumulator and orifice tube but am confused as to where all these o rings go, I got the two on the back of the compressor and am sure there's a couple that go on the tube and accumulator but I know there's got to be more spots, are there o rings in the connections leading to the Condenser? I appreciate the help

Yes there is, Where the lines go onto the condenser and the bottom line on the evaporator. Sounds like your confused as to saving money stay'n with R12, That stuff is expensive if you can find it. Otherwise you have to pay a shop price and have them install it......

I saw some places online that didnt look too expensive, I just don't think I can tackle removing all the r12 oil out of the compressor and lines and such, I'd just like to make the system hold pressure, vacuum the air and moisture out, and re charge

Keep the R12 system as is, swap orifice tubes, and run 152a. Cheapest way you can go at this point. R12 is not cheap.

I don't really see this as too expensive if I bought three cans, am I missing something? if I make sure my system holds pressure and don't waste the cans it still seems worth it to me

That is 4oz cans of OIL CHARGE not R12 refrigerant, If you don't drain the oil you won't need the oil charge.
Check this R12/R134 replacement refrigerant out, No need to drain and refill oil;
Read the reviews on how well it works, I put their house AC equivalent in my central unit and had my duct temps drop 12 degrees from the original R22 that was in it.
You can find it cheaper here; http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-cans-Enviro-Safe-R134a-R12-Replacement-AC-Refrigerant-Dye-/331290243419?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d226ff15b&vxp=mtr
I bought six cans from this seller couple days ago for my DD and bird, After seeing what it did in my house AC I'm pretty sure it's gonna be cooler than R12 or R134. And...... It's cheaper than 3 cans of R134, Just read the instructions and only add the proper equivalent......

Re: Ac o-ring kit, where do they all go?
I called their 800 number and talked to a guy before buying for my house AC, He stated this refrigerant was compatible with all oils. They even have a oil charge that's compatible with other common R12-R22-R134 oils;

Oh, One other thing...... Last year I had to put a new compressor on my DD, I did the whole shoot'n match and re-charged with the same amount of R134 I've used in the past. Last month I had a leak on the high side schrader valve, I couldn't get it out for replacement so ended up replacing the whole line.
While I had it all tore down I went ahead and installed a ford blue orifice tube EVERYONE talks about, I pulled the vacuum and charged with the same amount R134 as always. The blue orifice tube didn't make a difference at all, My vent temp is still the same as it always has been 40*.
That and the cheaper price is why I bought the envior-safe for my next DD repair and my bird.....
