Help My 87 305 tpi starts then shuts right off!

Ok so my car was Starting and running fine until i wasn't able to shift until gear so i parked it and changed my clutch master and slave cylinder and speedo cable(was bad) and i put everything back together (had it sitting for a month)and now it turns on for about second or two and shuts off...I checked all my wires and they seem to be intact..What could be my problem?? A faulty relay?? Could the fuel pump mess up from just sitting for a month? I put gas in and problem continues...Please help as this is very frustrating

A bit of a long shot, but as a diagnostic test, unplug the MAF sensor and try to fire it up. If it stays running, your MAF is bad. The ECM doesn't look at MAF readings until engine RPMs exceed about 400. Enough to fire it, but it dies (flooding or starving) as soon as the RPMs come up when it tries to settle into idle.
