hi everyone my car will loose power to everything while driving and engine will also shut off sometimes or it will just bog down for a second could a short be causing this or a loose connector on a fuse box? battery cable are tight

 

Do you lose headlights when it does this?

 

Not that I know of but my hazard lights did not work when I pulled to the shoulder one time. What would the difference be?

 

This would rule out the main battery connections. I'm assuming this is a carbed engine? I'd put a small lamp/light inside the car and wire it to the 12v coil feed to start with, make sure it's getting voltage. Electric fuel pump? Factory pump might have a relay going bad, I'd next hook the light to the main wire back to the pump. Go through all the things that might be going open or losing voltage. Wondering if it could be vapor lock in the fuel line too.

 

yes it is a carb caris has a new 350 in it from the 305 that was in it beforeswapped out and use the same fuel pumpit's attached to the block and I believe its just mechanicalyou mention vapor lock in the gas line but how would that relate to losing all power
