new intake / carb, do I need vacuum lines?
Greetings, this is my first post here so I hope I get it right! I have a 1987 firebird with T tops, carb'd 305. We are keeping the 305 for now (stop laughing guys) painted the block, new Edelbrock chrome none EGR intake and a Elelbrock performer series 600CFM with an electric choke and an external coil / distributor MSD. We have MANY more chrome parts we are putting on it over the winter. We have cleaned out the engine compartment of smog equipment, AC pump and hoses. The car is over 20 yrs old and in MA there is no emission test at all, Safety only. So now my question. Can I remove all the vacuum lines under the hood? The Performer doesnt use them, the smog equipment is gone, AC is gone and again there is no emissions that this will have to pass. this is not a daily driver either, Sunday's, shows and the such. Thoughts? I really want to clean out the engine compartment of as much crap as possible. Pics to come of this!
Re: new intake / carb, do I need vacuum lines?
In no partricular order you may need to supply vacuum for:
PCV (from carb base)
Brake booster (from fitting on manifold)
Vacuum advance (from carb, either ported or full vacuum)
Heater controls (seeing as it was an AC car).
