How do you remove the intake manifold from an l69

How do you remove the intake manifold from an l69

i need to replace my intake manifold im putting a stock one on what needs to come off to get it off the only part that worry's me is i know the distributor has to come out when i put it back together how will i put he distributor back in so that its in time thanks car is an 85 with the l69 thanks

Take the distributor cap off so you can see the rotor. Bar the engine over until the timing marks on the balancer line up. If the rotor isn't pointing where #1 plug wire is, bar the engine over another full revolution. The #1 piston is now at TDC and the distributor rotor should be pointing to where the #1 plug wire should be.

Pull the distributor and replace the intake manifold. When you go to drop in the distributor, make sure the rotor is pointing roughly where it was before you pulled it providing you haven't rotated the engine at all during the disassembly. The rotor will turn slightly as it's install. If everything aligns, the distributor will drop down and engage onto the oil pump drive. If it doesn't, you can use a long flat tip screwdriver to turn the pump drive.

You will still need to use a timing light after everything is back together to make sure the timing is set correctly.
