Strange car behaviour while turning&braking
Hi guys,
here I am with a very disturbing and worrying issue of my 350ci GTA with 700R4. I'll try to explain it as briefly as I can.
When I enter a big turn (o a big traffic circle) at a pretty high speed (lets say 50-60Mph) and I suddenly brake, the engine/tranny starts to behave very strangely. It's like the car mess up everything.
The engine starts to rumble, like it's about to stop (but remains on), and no matter if you accelerate, the engine wont be able anymore to raise RPM, it will keep struggling at the minumum.
The trans does not shift down (I think).
If you press/modulate the gas pedal, nothing improve, engine just keeps finding it hard.
It's like the car is having a panic attack and it can't run anymore, but doesn't die :/
Terrible.
Curiously, the car is more prone to this while turning, not in straight streets.
I have two options at this moment. I can move the shift from "O" to "D" (or viceversa, causing a sort of "reset") or wait like five or more seconds to let the car to breathe again.
I'm pretty sure it gotta be the transmission, because the engine really seems in great conditions.
Has this ever happened to you?
What could it be?
thank you very much,
bye

carb or FI?
Iv seen a carb down this before when the floats where out of adjustment.
Is the 700r4 factory, could it be that the Lockup function of the converter is locking up and trying to stall the motor when you slow down on a turn without hitting the brake but in a straight line your hitting the brake it down?

If you meant "carburators of fuel injection" I'd answer FI (I have the 5700 TPI).
The 700R4 is factory, so yeah, actually it could be the lookup clutch. It has sense: in a turn you slow down without braking, and the engine is dragged at low RPM. I a straight line it's a more rare phenomenon but it happens when I hardly brake, of course.
But if this is correct, it should happen to every car, right????

How much gas in the tank? Sounds like fuel starving to me entering a turn that fast.
