Re: loss lots of power

You would be surprised how much of a roll some of the sensors sending information to the ECM play.

They all have to work together so the ECM can make adjustments.

Example = I broke the "little" plastic vacuum line going to the MAP sensor while changing the cap and rotor.

I figured OK Ill just drive to the local auto parts store to get some hose line but I wanted to see how the car would act without MAP .

My brother tried to start the car with me watching ,The air cleaner assembly
was still off.

When he turned the key I thought the car was exploding.

A tower of whatever the TBI could pump out shot up in the air.

Scared the s--t out of me.

So replace it and find out ....

Some cars have to have an O2 sensor to run proper. I had a 92 civic I pulled the O2 out off for 3 days and it ran fine but my brother in law had the O2 go bad in his late 80s Toyota truck and his fuel mileage dropped almost in half.

It all depends how the ECU is designed. Some have good calibration tables to fall back on in the case of a missing O2 sensor. Some will barely start. Stop racing your car and fix it properly.

Re: loss lots of power

Without the 02 sensor, The ECM will default to "limp home mode"

performance is non-existent when the "service engine soon" light is on.
