I have a 85 camaro with a 305 the will crank but will not start. Sometimes it will idle for a between 5-10 secs but no more than that. Any suggestions on where to start?

Notes:

Fuel pump and filter are new so they area not clogged

You need to tell a lot more info. What is fuel pressure? Do you have spark? Are the injectors firing? Was car running normal then suddenly won't start/run or did you replace/change/modify anything causing this to happen? An engine needs air, fuel and spark to run, eliminate the things you do have and go from there!

 

Rereading your post, I see you replaced the fuel pump and filter. Was the car not starting/running poorly before you changed these parts? Did you replace the pump with a high pressure pump for a TPI and not a TBI (lower pressure) pump?

 

The car sat for about a about year and the fuel pump was replaced shortly before that.

Starts and then stalls with a little starting fluid (so I assume it has spark).

Injectors are firing (just tested with a noid light and it had pulse).

 

Pump was replaced do to failure and the car was running normal after the fuel pump until it sat.
