Weight of a sbc block?

Anyone weigh their sbc block?
Just the bare block with main caps and main bolts?

I am trying to compare weights of my motown 400 sbc block with 4 bolt mains.
Mine is lightened and weighs 165-170lbs.

Re: Weight of a sbc block?

Well summit says my old vortec block was 185 LBS. It was 200+ due to the box they shipped it in. UPS would not let me use there dolly so I had to carry it up to my 3rd story apartment (Just the block) and I weighed 165 at the time. That's a nice looking block.

Re: Weight of a sbc block?

That sounds about right. The last 350 I built, I picked up the bare block and stuck it in the trunk myself and hauled it to the machine shop. When the guy came out he was like....maybe we can grab it up with the cherry picker??? I leaned over, pulled it out of the trunk, and set it down on his cart, there!
