Removing Stock Starter: Tip
Hey Everyone,
I read through many threads about removing the stock starter because I was replacing mine with a high torque mini starter.
After reading quite a few "just play with it", "drink a beer" and "remove the Y-pipe" tips... I decided to add my own tip that allowed me to remove mine in 10 minutes..
TAKE OF THE SOLENOID!!!
Remove the 15mm bolts that hold the starter to the engine, remove the wiring (one 10mm and one 5/16in) and remove the three small bolts holding the solenoid to the starter.
When its free, twist the starter clock-wise and pull towards the front of the car and let it fall between the a-arm and the exhaust pipe, nose up.
Be mindful of the temp sensor wire and the spark plugs.
Don't even attempt without first taking off the solenoid!!!!
Hope this helps!!

Man I don't get all the sarcasm on this site, I'm sure alot of us know how to get a starter out but i'm sure he was just trying to give advice to someone who might need it, kinda thought that's what these kind of sites were for....

Re: Removing Stock Starter: Tip
Yeah, I was just trying to help people out by giving a simple tip that will save time.
I was thinking of "feeding the troll" but it wouldn't do any good
Some people just like being dicks. Perhaps FRMULA88 was having a bad day and needed vent!
Even if the tip helps one person save 5 mins changing a starter, I think its worth it.
Thanks
