Changing ignition cylinder quick question
Changing ignition cylinder quick question
To cut to the chase, keys got stolen. Got all new locks etc, everythings good there. Not im going to throw in the new cylinder, before I do I want to know the easiest way to get a key made. They include an OEM key that is a blank ready to cut. Id rather not have a locksmith out as they are expensive. Is there a code that comes in the kit that references how it should be cut? Who can cut it? I doubt depot or ace can cut a key for my ignition without having one to copy. Thanks guys!
Re: Changing ignition cylinder quick question
I have another option, when my keys got stolen, I was about 130 miles away from where I live. No way is somebody going to track me down. I could use the original in the car already and have a key made up for it. Whats the cheapest route there? What do I need to go through a dealer etc. Also, whats up with this keylessrides.com. They say they would need to know my "resistance" to cut me a key. What do you guys think? Thanks.

Re: Changing ignition cylinder quick question
Was researching more, if I were to bypass vats I could go with any cylinder. Then, with the code that comes with the cylinder I could have the key cut. Where would I take the code and blank key to have it cut?

Re: Changing ignition cylinder quick question
it will work as long as the key is the same resistance as your original
Re: Changing ignition cylinder quick question
I was having issues with it anyways, spliced the two wires together and installed a switch so no one can steal my car if for some reason I do lose my key again
