Engine Sensor points on Block - Diagram?
Hi Guys,
Can anyone point me to a good diagram of the SBC block and the positions of the motor in which the sensors can be placed?
Also if the diagrams have the thread sizes that would be awesome.
I'm in the final stages of my 400/AFR/HSR/x24 build and am down to the sensors I need, and hoping most of the LSX sensors are the same thread as the SBC.

Re: Engine Sensor points on Block - Diagram?
I wouldn't bet on the threads being the same. On Gen 1 SBCs the knock sensor was ALWAYS mounted externally, screwed into the side of the block. The block coolant drain plug holes about mid-engine down by the oil pan rail are where they were placed. On F-bodies it was always on the passenger side, even though there is an identical hole on the driver's side of the block.
I recall the thread being something like 1/4" NPT, but don't quote me on that.
Just for giggles, here's the WRONG way to do it if you need to use some sort of adapter. I mean REALLY wrong. I call it the "stalk sensor":

This is on a 454 big block (note the '7.4L' in the photot), but the principle is the same on a small block. If they had just screwed the sensor into that plug you see below it and slightly to the right, it would have been fine. But NOOOOOO, they had to be smarter than the factory and invent their own rig-job.
People do crazy stuff. Don't be that guy.

Thanks for that. Should be able to put them in the spots you mentioned, and use an adapter if the thread is different yeah?
Oil pressure is at the back of the block yes?
I know on my TPI motor I had 2 for oil, one sender and a sensor, what was the purpose of that?
