88 Firebird 388 Carbed. Want to delete ECM.

Like the title says, I have a 1988 Firebird Formula, it has a 388 stroker carbed in it with a BW t-5 tranny. I want to take the ECM out with all the wiring under the hood without just butchering the harness. I know the speedo and other gauges wont work if I do that and I haven't found any good resource for how to get around this problem. I don't really car to keep the stock gauges because I plan to make this into a street/strip car, so im probably going swap all of them anyway. Does anyone know what I would need to do to get the VSS to wire up straight to the gauge and the other gauges as well. Im not a beginner mechanic, but with this I am. For instance...can I run the wiring from the VSS straight to the new speedo or does it go to the computer to "process" the signal and then send a signal to the speedo. Any help is appreciated. Pictures will come soon.
