what cam do I have?
Its in the car and is a bit of a mystery. Someone in past wanted to make a hot rod out of it, not sure if anything it has can wise
305lb9
Swapped to carb (I didn't make the swap)
Performer rpm intake
Quadrajet carb
Car starts, drives good.. Not really much of a rough idle, maybe a little but the single 3 inch exhaust might be smoothing it out. Doesn't burn oil, make any unusual nasty noises or anything.
Pulls a steady 14 in of vacuum at idle.
120 psi compression on every cylinder.. My guage always reads low on everything I test, so normally I just look for variation in cylinder pressures. I'm happy when it reads 120.
Some loss of off idle power in sub 2000 range, in fact 2000 and under its a dog.. When it gets past that it runs pretty good. Falls off around 5000
2.77 rear gears
I can beat my kids 94 camaro with 3.73 gears, his car runs OK.. But I'm not saying I'm fast, but maybe he is slow.. Just use it as a baseline idea.

There's no way of guessing what's in there now. The only way to know is to order and install a new cam. Pop a valve cover and get the casting number of the heads before deciding how to proceed.

601 heads, with new z28 springs installed by me.. Others were weak. .. I'm probably not going to tear it apart and order anything, since its runs and drives good enough for me. Just throwing around ideas, I don't care if anyone is wrong in the guess.
