Low miles from my uncles wrecked half ton.At worst I was expecting to have to drill the bosses.Blech,what a let down;-(

Yep, mostly in trucks. Not many though and i think GM at some time stopped installing flat tappet cams in new cars/trucks all together (still used in their crate engines though).

Yea if u plan on running a large duration cam the roller is the way to go. Though with short duration cams the flat tappets dont give anything away to rollers though. How much cam u gonna run? BTW u can always install a solid roller cam while more expensive than a OEM roller swap its alot cheaper than a retro hyd roller cam.

 

I was just going to run a stock roller with a set of vortecs,it's for my old truck.The two front cylinders were full of water any way,pretty crusty."Free" never works out for me;-)
