87 305 carb wire question.
87 305 carb wire question.
I have a 2 prong wire connector (weather pack) that is located behind the left valve cover. My wiring diagram says it is a vss bypass. It has a pink/blk and a black wire. Any idea what this is for and should it be plugged in somewhere ? It is too short to go to trans.

Re: 87 305 carb wire question.
It goes nowhere.
Pink/blk = ECM power
Blk = gnd
Nobody out here in Internet land knows what it's for; but, being as how it's power and ground, what it could very easily do is, supply power to the entire engine, ECM, etc., without there being a car present.
I.e., a production-line test harness connector.
Don't worry about it. It doesn't go to anything now that the car has been built.

Re: 87 305 carb wire question.
Thanks for the info. I am chasing an est problem. The timing remains fixed and I am going thru the entire harness to eliminate potential sources. I have a new dist installed as well as a new module. Knock sensor is next. Anyone run into this issue before?

Is your ECM fuse good?
Is your EST wire next to the distributor good and connected?
