New engine build. Need cam options

So my 350(L98) has got a rod knock, i found a replacement L98 that im picking up this week. I dont have any huge plans for it other than headers, cam, and maybe springs and rockers. Now my question is which cam would work for my basically stock setup? It is a daily driver and all i have done is a gutted air box and a flowmaster exhaust. Looking for a cam with a decent lope to it and a nice power gain but still on stock L98 heads. Also will a tune be necessary? I've been looking at the LT4 hot cam, zz4, zz3, or zz9 cam. What do you guys think? Im mostly leaning toward the LT4 hot cam with 1.5rr and new springs. Any input would be appreciated!

The LT4 HOT cam is well and widely known to slow down an otherwise stock TPI.

Same for "lope"... anything that "lopes" is incompatible with TPI. Totally a bad idea. It's kinda one of those "fork in the road" deals; the left fork goes toward "lope", the right one goes to "run hard" and "work good".

I'd suggest the Comp "302" grind. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-08-302-8

Do you run that cam? How do you like it? What else was changed to run that cam? Looking at the specs it seems like 1.5rr are the way to go.

I have run a very similar one in a carbed 305. I had 1.6 roller rockers and 1.45" springs on it. (986 I think but I can't recall for sure, mighta been 987) Made pretty good power, got great gas mileage, and lasted many many miles trouble-free.

Roller cam, I have a Lunati 60121 in my 355 and it runs very well. For a non-roller block, look at a Lunati 60102. the 60101 is comparable to the factory cam in the 305's.
