High idle

Hey guys just having some type of problem with my car it's a 92 Camaro rs with 305 tbi . But I seem to get a higher idle when the car warms up on a cold start it'll be around 800 rpms or less than when its operating temp it goes up to 1200 rpms . It has one of those after market chips Jett performance but i purchased the car like that could that be the problem. I've checked for vaccum leaks found none

Re: High idle

i had a chip burned for my car when i did a 305 to 350 swap and my car did the exact same thing. bought all my own tuning equipment and started burning my own chips. the point being.... the person that burned that chip for that car didnt get the BPW (Base Pulse Width) constant correct in the ECM parameters. i am not 100% sure thats the problem. i am not a professional so if i am wrong someone please correct me. thats the problem i had till i did some researched and fixed the problem my self.

Re: High idle

Have you checked your Idle control. Mine was not functioning because the connection was bad at the Idle control module. I spliced in a new connector and it is fine now. It was causing the car to stay on a fast idle.

Re: High idle

It probably is your IAC connection. The connector cost me 40 bucks in Canada. I also replaced the IAC. The old was working fine though and it was just the connection. It would be nice to have a manual carb as I find the car takes a 30 seconds or more to idle down after starting. I guess that is one of the joys of driving by wire.

Re: High idle

If you find that the new IACV is not helping or is even worse its because there is a procedure necessary when resetting it and adjusting Minimum Idle speed.

It starts with setting the timing to the stock setting at normal operating temperatures and go's from there.......
