Thinking about going to 383, some ????
I have an L98 '87 IROCZ with lots of mods, please see signature below.Who makes a 383 stroker kit which is balanced and all forged items at a reasonable price (under $2,000)? I have a block with a single piece rear seal, so that has become an issue for stroker kits.
Should I go with 5.7" or 6.0" rods?
What about 5.85" rods? (Summit racing has these)
I plan on using my factory block and have it bored out 030 and have it releived for clearance. Also, I will have it machined for 4 bolt main caps.
I have been burning my own Eproms. Any special advice here other than I will need more fuel?
I would appreciate any comments or advice from those who respond.
TIA

check with this guy-

e-mail him and he will give you a quote on a complete assembly. I got a rotating assem for a 400 with free shipping for about 1200.
Let your rod choice depend on what pistons you can get. I would not get 6inch just for the sake of it. It will not really provide an HP increase. The 6inch rod on a 383 stroke requires the ring grouves be put in a real narrow area. If your going to use any NOS or boost, reducing area between the rings is not a good idea.
A 5.85 rod would work well, but you will have a little trouble finding a light piston. Try to find something in the 500 gram range for a 5.7 rod 383 and it will last a long time even with spray.
