Do they make a cover to put in the place of where the airconditioning stuff mounts against the firewall. If so does anyone know who sells them or have a part number?

Thanks

Ben

I don't know the part number for the blow motor housing that attachs to the firewall. But you can find them on ebay (over priced) Or you could walk around a boneyard and find a housing for a S-10/Camaro, it's the same as far as I can tell. That's what I used. The only difference the the mounting holes.

Are you referring to the part that would mount flat on the firewall, or stick out with the air-conditioning stuff in it. I want one that will allow me to free up some space and get rid of that stuff sticking out of the firewall.

Thanks

The one I used was out of a non-ac S10. If you have ever seen pics of a 1LE thridgen, look that the firewall. That's what mine looks like. It 's sticks out enouigh for blower motor to mount and air to pass though. The passenger side spark plug is a dream to take out now! The only prob I had was the a couple of the screw holes did not line up, I just drilled the correct holes in the blower motor housing. I picked it up for $5 at a boneyard so it would have been no loss if it messed it up. I have to admit that I had the heads off when I mounted this thing, so it was a piece of cake. It would be a little tough with a fully intact motor.

Thats cool, thats what I want, Actually I will have the whole engine out sometime in the next few days so that would make it pretty easy. Thanks for the help. I think I will have to go on a junkyard search.

FYI.... Be sure to take the S-10 blower motor, the stock AC thridgen motor has a larger head the will hit the fender well. I would also take a pic of a 1LE with you because I am not sure if GM changed the housing on the S-10. I believe mine was off a mid-80s S-10. One more thing... if you plan on using the themostat thingy that is mounted to the top of your AC housing you will need to cut the non-ac box, not a big deal just something else to do.

Not quite sure, but both the AC and Non AC boxes had it. The non-ACs was smaller and had less coils. I decided to use the AC one becasue it fit the connecter, plus I only run the car in the summer so I hardly ever use the heat. GMTECH would know I bet. If you take it out it looks like a couple sets of coils.

Well no part number for that piece, there are some pictures but most of them had the air conditioning. Does anyone have any good pics of this piece or preferably a part number. If I was able to get this piece new would I be able to use the blower motor out of an s10 so I dont spend a fortune on dealer parts.

Thanks
