Accessorie bracket/pulley kit. Mix and match parts???
Hey guys, question about pulleys and brackets. I am currently running a Summit mid mount accessory kit designed to fit on a long water pump. It's got the alternator pulley and bracket, power steering pulley and bracket, water pump pulley and crank pulley. One belt closest to the balancer goes around the crank and PS pulley. Then next belt goes around the crank, alt, and water pump. Pic is attached. ....I'm having some issues with flexing, and wish the the kit was designed a little stronger.
Question: I can purchase the similar (and better designed kit) from March for $420, or purchase just the brackets for about half that, if I re-use the pulleys I currently have from the summit kit. .....or....(pick up some similar smaller hot rod shop brackets for even less.) Question is will the belts line up? Front to back? Using brackets from one kit, and pulleys from another? I would assume that no matter what kind of belt (V or serp), the brackets would place the accessory in either a "short" or "long" position. Does that make sense? All water pumps are either short or long....and all bracket kits seem to say what water pump their designed to work with.
I would assume that if I bought an alt and PS bracket, designed for use with my long water pump, any pulleys would work. Lots of assuming. Hoping for some insight.

From what I seen, you are correct all pulleys for X system or pump style will interchange with all bracket brands for that same type of system.
As long as you buy pulleys and brackets for the water pump you are running, it will all match up.
Just as an example.. On my camaro I have a mildon high flow long water pump, March alum. crank pulley, summit alum. PS, water pump, alt pulleys, 1970 monte carlo PS pump and bracket, summit chrome alt bracket, CS130 alt. All for long water pump and it all lines up and works great, even shifting at 7200-7400 rpm

That makes sense....otherwise all brackets would have to be sold as kits. cool. thanks for the response.
