Hyper-tech chips
Hyper-tech chips
I've got a 85 tpi 305 stock except for typical free/low cost mods (gutted air box,k&n's,air foil, maf screens & fins removed, bumped timing, "modified" cat,160*thermostadt, cooling fan on toggle switch, etc). What kind of performance improvement could I expect with a Hyper=tech chip, either a "streetrunner", or "Thermomaster", and whats the difference in the two?. Has anyone else tried them, liked or disliked them ? How much are they, and are they really worth it? Thankx.
I have a Hyper-Tech Thermomaster chip on my '83 Berlinetta. I gave me about .4 on the quarter mile with just the free mods and a 3-inch exhaust with headers. The thermomast is different from the streetrunner becuase it utilizes you're 160* thermo, changes the time the fan comes on and everything like that, but the streetrunner is made to run with a stock 195* thermo. I've had good experiences with it, it works well on a nearly stock car, anything more than that I'd recommend a custom chip.
Good Luck with the chip.

No, they're not worth the price. Do a search and you'll find out why. This topic comes up all the time.
