How much is computer supposed to advance timing
I have a 87 TA with a 305 TPI.
I set my base timing at about 6 deg with the brown wire disconnected then disconnected the battery to reset the computer. When I hook up the brown wire again the timing seems very far advanced. I would guess somewhere around 20 deg. Nowhere near the timing marks on the crank pulley.
Is this normal? I was having a rough start and less power so thought timing might be the issue. Now I'm wondering if its the computer screwing things up.

20-22 deg is normal timing range with est wire connected

Thanks!
Any ideas on rough start. (have to try 2-3 times then it stumbles a bit before firing)
Set timing, changed plugs and it has a new MAS. Only has problem when cold.

Injectors good? Distributor module good? Starter good? Getting enough volts/amps? Could be number of reasons
