OK this is way weird. I just bought this 1991 with a 305 TPI and 5 spd. Car always starts up cold and runs great. Occasionally (not always) it won't hot start again. But what is really weird is that it runs like dookie in reverse and typically stalls out in reverse even if I rev. Then it won't start again for 20 minutes. What the H does reverse have to do with any of that?

 

Could be a short in your reverse light switch on the trans.
