intermittent problems advice needed

I'm having some issues with my girlfriends 88 iroc 305 tpi it has a intermittent problem when first starting the car it will idle very low at 500 hundred rpm and if you touch the gas it dies. If you leave it alone it jumps to 1300 rpm and then finally settles down to 750 I have witnessed this a few times. The other thing I haven't witnessed she tells me she's driving down the road and h gives it th throttle and it and it doesn't gain rpm and has even died driving down the road. And is currently not throwing a code. I need some advice on where to start.

Re: intermittent problems advice needed

I posted a thread in the TPI "engine surges". I have been battling the same issue but mine never dies, My enigine RPM is all over the place, but not all the time. I think it is injector related. I have been running Seafoam through my fuel system. 2 cans per tank 2 tank fulls. It has not 100% cured the problem but more times than not it runs fine, which is 180 from where it used to be. I really think the injectors need to come out and be professionally cleaned and recalibrated. My car has an average of 2500 miles per year so it did a lot of sitting and sitting with gas clogs or sticks injectors.

I had similar issues with idle among other multiple symptoms. Troubleshot it until I found out my ecu was bad. Tapped on it with a screwdriver handle and the car wigged out. $100 fix
