Intake bolt torque specs.

Am installing an aluminum intake on L-31 (vortec heads) and am wondering what the bolts should be torqued to. Thank you

Re: Intake bolt torque specs.

Standard torque works just fine. A 3/8" bolt is around 38-45 pounds.

Re: Intake bolt torque specs.

Thanks for the information. The reason for asking is I believe the stock vortec intake is torqued to 12-15 lbs. I wasn't sure if this was because of the gasket used or the intake itself and if using a more standard aluminum manifold would allow a more traditional torque amount. Thanks again.

Re: Intake bolt torque specs.

I think votec manifolds use 5/16 bolts a total of 8 and are 15-20 ftlbs. ARP says 24 ftlbs for their bolt kit

Midias - Thanks so much for the info. Actually the bolts are 8mm but about the same torque amounts. Lot of different information some concerning the type of gasket used. Mine are Fel-Pro so going to also give them a call before I install. Again Thanks

8mm should be about the same as 5/16, best of luck. I used 20 ftlbs on my edelbrock vortec intake with felpro 1255 gaskets no issues for years.

Re: Intake bolt torque specs.

20 ftlbs on an 8mm bolt is just fine. I think standard torque is 18-24 for 8mm.
