New camshaft, stock lifters? Good/bad?
Im getting a comp cam 262h hopefully, and I was wodneirng if it would be fine with the stock lifters? If not I should get some aftermarket oens then right?
if it's a roller cam yes. if not you'll wipe out the cam in the first 20 min. new cam -new lifters. old cam -old lifters in the same place they came out of. or new lifters. new cam -old lifters verry bad kiss the cam bye bye.
Roller cams/lifters do not develop a wear pattern (in theory) so it's OK to reuse the lifters with a new (roller) cam. You'll notice that almost none of the roller cams advertised say they come with lifters.
However, flat tappet cams do develop a wear pattern so the lifters need to be replaced with the cam. Again, notice that almost all flat tappet cams advertised include new lifters.
You cannot use roller lifters with a flat tappet cam or vice versa.

Well, it is not a stock cam but It has been used. It is still in the same block, and I planned on using new lifters in it. I guess it is my best bet anyway, because I dont know where the old ones went anymore.
