Interior vacuum leak = engine shuts down?

My 91 RS 305 has been running rough lately due to my putting off a tuneup, and now it's developed the delightful symptom of simply dying while at speed.

After a few sparkplug hose replacements and fixing a broken vacuum hose in the engine bay, it runs even worse and now shuts down whenever doing low RPM on a gradient. I can sometimes floor it and cause it to roar back to life but 9/10 times I have to come to a full stop, put it in park, and start it all over again.

Ever since I fixed the vacuum leak in the bay a brand new one behind my air con control panel has sprung into being.

Is the possible solution to my engine turning itself off that darn vacuum leak in the cabin?

Maybe but probably not your problem. It should definitely be addressed, though.

There are a few threads regarding the HVAC control vacuum leak issue. Browse at your leisure.
