Aftermarket head options?

So I am wondering what options there are for aftermarket 87-95 heads(NOT VORTEC!!). I've seen the aluminum heads from summit that cost $1000 for the pair(excellent deal for aluminum). I've also seen Dart Iron Eagle S/S heads that I think cost $530 each(not a great deal for cast iron).

I'm just wondering if there are some other options out there? I really would love to have the Iron Eagle 165cc heads, but they are even more expensive than the Summit aluminum heads(which are overkill for my application).

I've seen some heads that would be awesome for my truck under $700 but they are all for 86 and down.

Re: Aftermarket head options?

The Summit 152123 heads would be ideal for me, but I'm not sure if they would work on tbi. The description says center bolt, but one of the questions on Summit was about the heads working with a 92 truck, and the answer was no. I thought tbi was center bolt?

Re: Aftermarket head options?

The big change to worry about is the intake bolts changing their geometry on the center bolts. Any head that was used from 87-95 should use both center bolt valve covers and use the modified intake bolts. This isn't to be confused with the Vortec style, which uses an even more different intake, but still uses center bolt valve covers.

I'd be looking at a set of Aluminum Profilers in a 185cc variety for around $1000. They flow great (AFR territory) and people seem to be pretty darn happy with them. I'm sure they have a part that's compatible with the 87-95 intake.

Re: Aftermarket head options?

if you wallow the 4 center bolt holes on your intake manifold, you can bolt on any earlier style head.

i've been considering the promaxx series heads'

AFR 195 Eliminators here, but it's on a 414Ci engine. 180's are good for stock on street.

Re: Aftermarket head options?

BluePrint H8002K Heads are drilled and tapped to fit either type of intake bolt designs and flow well, at $900 a pair they are a bargain.

Re: Aftermarket head options?

195cc heads might be a bit big for a street driven 350.
