1985 has lack of power on take off

1985 has lack of power on take off
So recently I took my car to a mechanic to have my intake manifold gasket, tpi gaskets and valve cover gaskets replaced. Before I took it in, it was running fine. But now when I hit the gas, it doesn't have that same power in the take off than before. I over looked what the mechanic did to make sure everything was hooked up correctly. And it all looked good. So I went ahead and replaced my spark plug wires cause I noticed some were burst due to them touching the exhaust( previous owner did a number on the wiring. not the cleanest looking wire set up). But I'm still having some power and misfire issues. Any advice on how to fix this issue before it turns into a much bigger issue. Thanks

Thanks Rick. I'm gonna look into that tomorrow. Also my temperature gauge stopped working before I had my gaskets replaced. Any advice on how to pinpoint the problem. Thanks

Check that the sender didn't come unplugged would be the place to start. Here's a picture of it's location:

Timing. Q: On a TPI F-Body do you have to disconnect the ecm at the distributor before setting the timng?

So after checking the ignition timing(which tested good) and replacing plug wires, I'm still having the power issue. Could it be a fuel issue? Or should I keep on with replacing everything related to spark plugs and distributor?

Well if it's misfiring that will drive the O2 sensor lean and cause the computer to dump in more fuel which would make the affected bank rich - rich conditions will be felt as a nagging power loss like you describe. It still certainly could be ignition related but unless you have got wires crossed or they are arcing..... never a bad idea to check the cap and rotor for carbon tracking or other issues.....
Do you have the ability to watch block learn, O2 voltage, and other computer live data? An ALDL scan tool is invaluable for EFI problems. Also check that the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose is properly hooked up and there are no other vacuum lines disconnected, etc.

So I replaced the fuel filter. Runs a little better. But it still has a pause on a quick acceleration. Drove it for about 15 minutes. Temperature gauge is showing good. But the temperature under the hood is really hot. And all my spark plug wires are hot to the touch. What can be causing this

Your mechanic may have put the distributor back in off a tooth. What was your reading when you set your timing?

I'm not sure bro. I'm trying to get a hold of my mechanic right now. But after all the advice I got from here and speaking with other mechanics,I'm leaning more to the possibility that the distributor wasn't put back on properly
