E-3 spark plugs?
I can only find 3 threads that mention E-3 spark plugs and none of them ask this question, why are they longer than the stock style ACDelcos? and is this going to cause a problem? the E-3s seem to be about 1/4 inch longer in the threaded section.

Re: E-3 spark plugs?
If the closest application they have for your engine ends up being 1/4" longer than stock plugs, don't use them. Simple as that.
"Why are they longer than stock style ACDelcos?" ....they're a marketing company first, a product company second. They don't give a **** if they're the right plug for your car or not, as long as they get your money

Re: E-3 spark plugs?
these plugs came with the car (p.o never had the chance to replace them) so I figured it would be worth shot, but after reading some reviews I am thinking of picking up so delcos on my way home.

Looks like every other gimmick plug over the past 100 years. All marketing. I would pass. Get some ACDelco's.

Re: E-3 spark plugs?
just confirmed with e-3 the plugs I have are meant for a car with aluminum heads, these plugs are .26" longer. so I guess they are getting pulled out and put on the shelf and im getting some delcos tonight.

Re: E-3 spark plugs?
Plugs need to be replaced when they wear out.
Copper plugs of whatever brand you want and AC Delco is the most popular. Under normal driving conditions, these usually last around 2 years before needing to be replaced.
If you want to go longer between plug replacement, invest to a nothing gimmicky platinum or iridium plug. These are designed to last around 5 years before needing to be replaced.
As for performance, if you took a copper, platinum and iridium plug, all in the same heat range, style etc and dyno tested them, it's unlikely you would see any performance difference.
My race car has copper NGK race plugs. they're inexpensive and work just fine.

yeah I'm not sure why he went with the e3s, I read that the only difference between the copper, platinum and iridium are how long the last, and I'm ok with that.

Re: E-3 spark plugs?
Be very careful removing the E-3s. The 1/4" of extra threads in the combustion chamber could be filled with carbon and could bind as you try to remove them. If you bugger the threads in the head, you will taking the heads to the machine shop or buying new heads.
Also use high-temp anti seize on your new plug's threads - aluminum head or iron.

Re: E-3 spark plugs?
no fear there, I'm the one who started putting them in but stopped because of the difference, so if you know any one who needs some questionable plugs with 0 miles on them send em my way lol
