334 TPI Stroker - Dyno Results Are In!!! What Next?

The last pass trapping 107 by short shifting the 2-3 500+ rpm earlier than usual. That's the only way I could get it to throw third without totally letting off. Still took it forever to complete the shift. Also totally botched the launch because i didn't hit the brake hard enough and the mickeys pushed the car forward against the brakes trying to bring up the converter (LOL)
Fueling was really beginning to dial in at this point but had too much timing as evidenced by the plugs. After this pass is when I called it a night due to driveline noise from the trans.

Rebuild tranny and try dialing in again. Hard to judge much from those slips with the issues you had, but there is some promise in the times. It should go 110+ so the traps are backing the dyno numbers imo

My 3,100 lbs with me in it 1980 Vette ran a 12.0 @ 113 mph with a 312 in it. Was a 0.040" over 305 with flat top pistons. Zero decked. Cleaned up 059 305 Vortecs with 1.94/1.60 valves. Crane 100052 cam and 1.6 rockers. Edelbrock victor jr with a home made plenum divider. Edelbrock 500cfm carb. Long tube headers. Pypes 2.5" exhaust with magnaflow mufflers. Powerglide with a 2,800 rpm converter and 3.08 gears. It made 290 hp at the tires.
Calculations from ET and MPH as well as using an 18% drivetrain loss all point at the 305 making about 350 hp.
Would have loved to have seen this test repeated on a freshened up 305 with the ring gaps opened up.

Nice times and you should be proud of making the 12's. Must be a lot of fun to drive on the street.
Those 700R4 trans are plenty in the bone yards if you need a new trans bad enough and most can be had with a 30 day warrenty. But I think you find you need a little higher stall TQ for the torque of a stroker. And a higher TQ needs more cooler with a good trans cooler.

Thx for sharing.
I'm already running a 9" EDGE 3600 converter. I have a K-case 700R4 I've been hiding for a few years now. I literally traded a set of perimeter bolt ball milled valve covers off my old engine for it. I'm going to get the Pro-Built Pro street rebuild kit for it and am strongly considering the sonnax smarttech input housing with bolt on backing plate to eliminate the 3-4 friction flex. I'll blow the crank out of the block before I frag that setup.
With that I'll be able to finally use the nitrous and very possibly get into the 10s on a 150 shot. I've been waiting for that moment since the 334 was a weeee little engine block and I file fitted the rings for it myself

Peak power numbers are not entirely what I was after.
I also have a K case 4l60E. I think about the only difference is the bolt on aluminum inspection cover. Rumor is the case is thicker etc. But I have yet to see any concrete proof. I only used it because I had it from a 1997 tahoe I sold. Maybe the solid thick inspection cover stiffens up the case Idk.

Hey @FireDemonSic, how's the 334 stroker coming along? I just bought an 89 Firebird with a 305 TPI and the 700R4 trans. Was considering the 334 stroker build to keep number matching, but haven't really decided yet. Were able to get any additional HP out of it?

No updates on my part, life happens... moved from FL to WA, car stayed in FL for a while before getting it up here...
Planning on new body wiring harness, 305 TPI still runs great, so after wiring harness, we'll see or upgrade to EV !?!?
But only if I can keep my 5 speed
