New Cam-Evaluation Please
Hey All,
I am having my 87 TPI drive train dropped into an 88 donor body as the 87 is a lost cause
.
Anyway, they are going to polish up the intake and I was thinking this was a good time to swap the cam.
This is the cam I was looking at on Summit Here
I am not 100 percent sure what is in mine as it is a non stock 350 70's reproduction crate motor(came with the car).
Near as I can tell these are the specs of the motor based only on head casting numbers. The motor is using the stock TPI for a 350.
Horsepower: 249 HP @ 5,000 RPM
Torque: 304 Ft/Lbs @ 3,500 RPM
Compression Ratio: 8.50 to 1
Block: 4 – Bolt, 2 Piece Rear Seal, 4.000” Bore
Crankshaft: Cast Nodular 3.480” Stroke
Heads: Cast Iron, 76cc
Valves: 1.940” / 1.500”
Camshaft lift: 0.390” / 0.410” Hydraulic
Duration @ 0.050”: 195° / 202°
Could someone with more experience with cams let me know if my choice will net any performance? I am not looking for anything crazy, just better than what I have.
Thanks.

Re: New Cam-Evaluation Please
yes, it will make a big difference in performance.
Just check to make sure you have retainer-to-seal clearance on those heads at the higher valve lift.
