Hey guys! I just got a 1992 Z28 with the 5.7 350. Its been sitting in a garage for over 14 years! 1 owner with 106,000 original miles! All the fluids look surprisingly Good! I put some fresh fuel and a battery and she turns but won't fire! I ran out of daylight and wont have time to work on it over the next few days. AGHHH! 😓
I'll run through the basic checks to see if I got fuel and spark and we'll go from there! Stay tuned cause I may be back with questions or hopefully a running Z28!

First thing with a car that's been sitting that long is fuel....check your lines...filter and pump for pressure.
No trap doors.... Lol

Nice but dont run it for too long, who knows what kind of crap is inside. Crappy gas, old oil, and in my case a dumb hypertech chip requiring premium that i didnt know about and i had been running regular for a year. So a full inspection is needed right

@ultroadwarrior9; Not modding this one. Lol!
@pro; I didn't see that until you mentioned it. I'm not really sure.
Quick update! Tested the fuel pressure from the fuel rail and got nothing. 0 psi. No fuel pressure. It doesn't sound like the fuel pump is clicking on or pumping. Pulled the fuel filter and tried blowing through it. It was CLOGGED up! Looks like I'll be dropping the tank and giving it a good cleaning. Ordered the fuel pump and sending unit.

You may want to test the connection at the pump relay first, then work your way back to the pump. It could be a broken wire eaten up by a rat and not a dead pump, and replacing a good pump with a good pump is a waste of time.

I got a fuel tank from a donor 1991 Firebird and put a new sending unit/fuel pump in it. Got it in place and mounted the straps and then noticed the filler neck doesn't line up with the gas tank lid. (See pic) I ran out of time and I'll get back to it on Friday. Any quick suggestions before I start again on Friday?

The flexi-straw looking part of the filler neck where it meets the tank is probably tweaked. Remove the tank and tweak it back. When you find the right position, clean and solder the joint between the filler neck and the tank.
That era of thirdgen tank is commonly afflicted with pin holes in the soldered joint. Some are so bad that they leaked when filled to capacity. Plenty were replaced under recall. Best to make sure it's sealed while you have the tank out.

Thanks Pro! The next plans are probably sell it. I'd love to keep it but I bought it as a little investment project. If I do hang on to it, I'll get a new windshield and new top dash pad. It just hit 107,000 miles today!
