Camshaft nose pin length question
Hi
I have bought a Howards hydraulic roller camshaft for my Chevy small Block 1 st gen 350 cid L05 engine. Factory roller Block.
The nose pin on the new cam shaft is twice as long as the nose pin on original GM camshaft I took out from the engine.
Is it as simple as just knocking the pin in, until the length is correct?

Re: Camshaft nose pin length question
Pretty much. Might be worth a call to the manufacturer's tech line to be sure. The longer pin is used for the LT1 style engines, something to do with the opti-spark or water pump. Standard process with GM roller cams is to push the pin deeper.

Without looking it up I recall most users cut the pin down with grinding wheel or hacksaw. Then dress it up with a file.
