Winaldl...25 pin - 9 pin

On my new laptop it does not have a serial port. Ive read that no one has any luck with usb converters. What about a 25 pin - 9 pin adapter. Has anyone had any luck using winaldl without a 9 pin serial port?

I have used the serial port on my desktop and it worked fine with that computer, but my laptop doesnt have serial...

I have been told not to use a DB25 to DB9 adapter. It could cause damage.
I use a PCMCIA to serial card adapter. It works good.

Just curious on where you found a 25pin pcmia adapter, i can only find ones that give me more 9 pin adapters.

Thanks,

I thought I saw one one the internet, but I did not buy it or try it out, I ended up getting a usb-serial adapter from best buy for $30. Seems like a bit much for a simple adapter, but I plugged it in and it worked immediately.

Also I have windows XP home edition on my laptop. Works great.

no, but best buy only has one of them, you can check the web site or goto the store and they should have it.
