Below normal MPG and stron smell of fumes from exhaust

I have a 2006 Lincoln Navigator with approximately 112k miles. Just had Spark plugs and coils changed. I was getting approximately 312 miles from a full tank of gas. That has dropped to approximately 215 miles per fill up (according to my digital information miles to empty reading on dashboard). I have also noticed a strong unusual smell of fumes. The fumes even gets into my clothes if I stand anywhere near the exhaust pipe. What could this be? No visible leaks, no power loss, no rough idle, no check engine light, no unusual noise...
