Can iroc air boxes be put on a firebird?

Hey guys can you put the straight in air flow y and air boxes on a firebird? My friend has a 1986 iroc and I like the air cleaner set up a lot better than my 89 GTA tin can set up. Will my hood clear?

No, the hoodline of the firebird is much tighter to the radiator support than the camaro. I'm not positive but, I don't think it would even work if you cut the reinforcement from the hood.

I've tried this already and found out the above.

Yea,I thought maybe that was the case. The intake on the firebird is terrible. I will have to see what can be done with this as soon as the engine is done. thanks

what he said, the hood line is too tight. has anyone tried this though? if you cut out behind the hood vents, and were to find/make an angled/formed box that would hold a stock size flat filter and run that straight into the TB? i was trying to think of something that came with a similar box then adapt it to work (4th gen ram air? stock housing from a truck or full size car? ). it'd be a bit wierd as it would have to be real flat or bulge down to sit a little lower behind the radiator support (tight fit). simple ram air.? just wondering

I set one on my car, it was nowhere near close to fitting. Dont think cutting will help.
